Broll Malawi Limited – A company registered and incorporated in Malawi to facilitate and manage property developments, and the management, leasing of existing commercial buildings and developments throughout the Country.

Broll has operated in Malawi since 2002 and initially traded as Glaeve International Limited until 2007. A Limited Company, it was registered in Malawi in 2004. The Company was approached by the developers, Group Five Construction to lease and manage Chichiri Shopping Centre and transfer property management skills to a local management company who were a subsidiary of the major shareholders in the property. The Company subsequently took over the management and are now also managers to the Holding Company. Chichiri Shopping Centre in Blantyre is at present Malawi’s largest shopping complex and comprises of 14100sqm metres of lettable area in its first and second phases. This property is now fully let and worth in excess of MK2 billion. The Company introduced all of the new tenants to the centre and negotiated the agreements with Game Stores and the Cinemas in the second phase of the development.

The Company has built a good relationship with amongst other institutions, NICO Holdings Limited, the National Insurance Company Limited of Malawi of which Santam in South Africa are substantial shareholders. An association was formed with NICO and a large portfolio of office and retail buildings has been entrusted to the company for over 5 years now. These include the head office buildings for the PTC retail group and their flagship store in Lilongwe and other of the group's outlets, being Peoples, Metro and McConnells in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.

Management has also been awarded by NICO Properties Limited for the prestige NBS Bank buildings in 4 major centres including the Head Office in Blantyre.

The company has tendered for a number of significant portfolios with various banks and institutions and are the current managers for the Standard Bank Pension Fund Portfolio of Properties, Office World and The Catholic Secretariat of Malawi.

The company has been asked by many other institutions for advice in various areas in Management and Development. Talks are underway for development, leasing and management elsewhere in Malawi and in other countries such as Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia and Tanzania.

The company has been appointed to lease and manage the new Lilongwe City Mall shopping centre development from NICO Holdings in Old Town which will be the largest shopping complex in Malawi.

Broll Malawi has its main office in the CBD of Blantyre and has offices in Lilongwe and Chichiri. Apart from the CEO, all staff are Malawian citizens and Broll is proud of the fact that where possible all of the contractors that it uses for building, maintenance, security, cleaning and gardening are local firms.

The company undertakes a number of leasing projects. We have recently been appointed to lease the new centre, The Gateway to be developed by Old Mutual and MPICO on Mchinji Road in Lilongwe. The development consists of over 85 shops and is phase 1 of a larger scheme which will include offices and a hotel.
